YANG was founded on a simple belief: young people can create meaningful change when they are trusted, empowered and given the opportunity to lead. Coming from the mountain communities of Gilgit-Baltistan, I have witnessed the growing impacts of climate change on our environment, livelihoods and communities. This experience inspired me to create a platform where young people can turn ideas into action and bring local voices to national and global spaces. Today, YANG works to empower young people and communities to build a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future. Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow—we are the changemakers of today.
Our Story
Born in the Mountains. Driven by Young People.
Youth Action for Next Generations (YANG) emerged from a simple belief: young people closest to the challenges should have the power and opportunity to shape the solutions. Rooted in the mountain communities of Gilgit-Baltistan, YANG grew from youth-led community action into a platform connecting local realities with wider conversations on climate, development and social changeout story is shaped by the experiences of communities living on the frontlines of environmental and social change and by the determination of young people who refuse to remain passive observers.
